Our Mission

Our Mission

It all started when…

our Founder/CEO, Lara Cornell, spent her very first year living in France and Belgium in the 90’s. Slow living and an appetite for all kinds of art (the art of food, the art of conversation, the art of flowers, the art of ancient architecture, and of course art in itself!) was a part of the every day.

She noticed how family and community took precedent over work. How having a skilled artisan in your community make something was valued far over purchasing mass-made. How purchasing eggs from the farmer next door was more important than running to the grocery store. How people showed off a favorite painting, dress, or even door knobs that had been passed down through generations or even salvaged from castles!

It all comes down to FAMILY and LEGACY. They want their community to thrive and flourish and have the best quality wine, cheese, flowers, etc… so they can all be proud of where they came from. They let the seasons direct how they live. They let the resources of the region direct what they created and grew. They want the time they spend with their family to be the MOST important which often led to lingering meals and evenings together. They choose their gifts with intentionality and purpose, showing that special someone how much they really cared. They shop at their favorite local shops and markets with pride and loyalty, planning just a day or two at a time.

They want the generations after them to have something that has tested time, ages with beauty, speaks to who they are and what they love, and will be pride of place for years to come.

This is what drives Artisan & Company.

Our mission is to give artisans the resources, education, and support they need to design & grow businesses. We want to showcase their skills and enable them to continue to master their passions. Not only for the prosperity of artisans, but also because artisan-made is better for our people, our planet and our economy.
